Simon Rattle, LSO to grace SZ Concert Hall

Simon Rattle, music director of London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), will lead his orchestra in Shenzhen for a night of Brahms’ pieces. Pianist Emanuel Ax will collaborate with the orchestra to play “Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 83” and then the orchestra will present “Symphony No. 2, Op. 73.”

Rattle rose to international prominence during the 1980s and 1990s while serving as music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (1980-1998). He has been principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic and now is music director of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2017.

The London Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1904, is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in London. It claims to be the world’s most recorded orchestra. It has made gramophone recordings since 1912 and has played on more than 200 soundtrack recordings for movies, of which the best known include the “Star Wars” series.
